Brendon's Pond Build Number 3
Easter Progress Update – Big Milestones Reached.
The Easter weekend brought a huge step forward in the pond build, and things are really starting to come together now.
After several long weekends of digging, the main excavation is finally complete — and that’s a seriously satisfying milestone to tick off. What was once just a plan (and a lot of soil!) is now clearly taking shape as a proper koi pond.

While the digging dust was settling, there was also a well-timed trip to Avenue Fisheries to collect last year’s grow-on koi. A Gin Rin Shiro, has absolutely powered on — putting on an impressive 8cm over the winter. It’s now back in the pond with the others, all waiting patiently for the big moving day.

Another key piece of the puzzle was sorted too, with the bottom drain now purchased and ready for installation — a small component, but a big step in getting the foundations right.
What’s Next?
Now it’s all eyes on the next phase…
Pay day it on its way after that, it’s time for the first concrete pour, along with installing reinforcement steel (rebar) to give the structure the strength it needs for the long haul.
Building Momentum
Progress might feel steady at times, but make no mistake — this build is moving forward in a big way.
What started as a patch of ground has now become a full-scale project, and you can really start to see the end goal taking shape. Each stage brings it one step closer to becoming a fully realised koi pond.
Plenty more to come… this is where it starts getting exciting
